The City of Port Lincoln is seeking a Fulltime Work Health and Safety Coordinator to provide support and advice to assist Council to implement measures to eliminate risks to health and safety through a systematic approach to WHS and Risk Management framework.
Key Objectives Include:
- Responsibility for, and to manage, review, implement and report on Council’s Work Health and Safety System to ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and the Return-to-Work self-insured SA Performance Standards.
- Preparation and distribution of trends and health and safety reports, WHS performance and key performance indicators.
- Manage, develop, monitor, review and report on the status of Council’s WHS, RTW & Risk Management Plan, including associated WHS Evaluation (Rebate) Action Plans.
- Manage, coordinate and undertake Council’s WHS, RTW & Risk Management Plan and Program Reviews.
- Mentor, coach, leave and provide guidance, direction and instruction to the WHS and Risk Officer.
- Liaise with the LGA Workers Compensation Scheme to ensure Council’s compliance with WHS and RTW requirements.
- Assist Manager Governance, Risk and Communications with the coordination, review, implementation and administration of risk management systems.
- Provide advice, review, implement and monitor Council’s Workplace Emergency Management Plan.
- Manage Councils WHS Management System and its use, to support effective WHS compliance and communication.
- On behalf of Executive and Leadership, develop and implement WHS Procedure Reviews.
- Provide guidance and instruction to the Work Health and Safety Committee to fulfil their Role and Function.
- Manage workplace injury claims and rehabilitation processes in accordance with Council’s Return to Work Procedures, in liaison with the Local Government Association Workers Compensation Scheme (LGAWCS).
- Manage, develop and implement a health and safety training program to provide pro-active management of risk and ensure appropriate instruction and training is provided.
- Provide high caliber specialised advice and support on WHS.
- Instill confidence and upskilling across Council to ensure that employees and contractors act safely and proactively manage incidents and risk.
- Provide WHS advice and support to the District Council of Tumby Bay through a Shared Services Agreement.
- Identify priorities for Council and communicate accordingly.
- Benchmark performance against best practice and report accordingly.
- Auditing performance against legislative compliance
- Educating and informing by means of engaging fundamental change.
- This role will work closely with the Regional Coordinator (Northern Eastern).
- Lead by example.
