Information Security, Privacy & Data Manager (part-time)

Veitch Lister Consulting (VLC) is seeking an experienced Information Security, Privacy & Data Manager to lead the day to day management of our information security, privacy compliance, data governance and IT operations in an ongoing part-time basis. This role plays a critical part in ensuring our systems, data and digital tools (including AI enabled solutions) are secure, compliant, well governed and fit for purpose. 

Working closely with internal stakeholders and external IT providers, you’ll be the operational owner of information security controls, privacy obligations and data stewardship, while also driving the delivery of IT and digital initiatives that support the VLC’s goals. This role will also support our journey to ISO 27001. 

You will be responsible for 

• Managing information security risks, incidents and cyber responses, including coordination of incident reporting and insurance activities 

• Maintaining and embedding IT, information security and privacy policies, standards and procedures 

• Managing IT certification audit processes to ensure positive outcomes 

• Ensuring compliance with applicable privacy legislation, including assessing incidents and managing notifiable data breaches 

• Leading privacy impact assessments and advising on privacy risks for new systems and projects 
• Project managing ISO 27001 certification process

• Governing data assets, including data classification, access approvals, retention and authorised data handling 

• Managing IT and digital projects such as system upgrades, new platforms and AI tools 

• Overseeing external IT service providers, including performance, service levels and approvals for changes and purchases 

What you’ll bring to the role

• Practical experience in information security, privacy, IT operations or a related field 

• Strong working knowledge of privacy legislation and cyber security risk management 

• Experience in ISO 27001 would be helpful 

• Experience managing IT vendors and service providers 

• Confidence handling multiple incidents, priorities and projects at the same time 

• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with nontechnical stakeholders 

• High attention to detail, strong documentation skills and a pragmatic, solutions focused mindset
