The Role

Rabobank’s Technology Engineering Security Team is on the front line of cyber defence - designing & implementing controls that protect our systems & data.  This collaborative team covers Security Architecture, Vulnerability Management, Security Testing, & Red Teaming.  

We are now seeking a Security Technical Design Lead to join our Sydney team on a  12-month fixed-term contract.

In this hands-on role, you will shape & design secure technology solutions that align with initiative requirements & Rabobank’s broader technology strategy.  Working closely with Lead Solution Architects, Solution Architects, Product Owners, & squad members, you will guide the security aspects of technical design across new capabilities & feature enhancements.

You will be responsible for capturing security architecture requirements, documenting security components of designs, interfaces & changes, & ensuring all implementations are reviewed & approved through our established design & architecture processes.  Your ability to engage proactively with stakeholders & understand the interconnected systems will be key to delivering robust, future‑ready security solutions.

You will also work directly with squads to ensure design impacts are fully understood, testable, & correctly implemented - addressing any security‑related design defects swiftly throughout development, testing, & post‑go‑live phases. This role blends hands‑on security analysis & secure development/design expertise with the ability to recommend fit‑for‑purpose security controls across applications & platforms.

About You:

You bring deep expertise in secure solution design & are confident navigating complex cloud and on‑premises environments. You’ll thrive in this role if you have:

• Proven experience in secure design & development
• Experience working in cloud environments - preferably Microsoft Azure
• Experience in banking or financial services (highly desirable)
• Strong knowledge across Azure Cloud Engineering, PaaS & IaaS
• Understanding of security, networks, backups, monitoring & logging
• Experience with system risk management
• Experience working in Agile environments
• Familiarity with IT governance frameworks
• Understanding of industry‑standard security frameworks such as ISO27001
• Knowledge of Cyber Security, Enterprise Architecture & Cloud Security principles
