Job Description

Our client is an established and highly regarded electrical contractor specializing in delivering commercial and industrial projects across Australia.  The organisation has operated for over 25 years, growing to be a major player in the electrical industry, with a track record of successfully delivering multimillion dollar projects

As the company continues its strong growth, we’re seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to join the team. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Operations Manager, as well as project and site managers, to lead the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of safety practices – fostering a positive safety culture both on-site and throughout the business.

Primary Objective

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this is an integral role within the company and will see you responsible for ensuring the business upholds all safety obligations and meets the requirements of its system, client expectations and drives best practice at all times.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: 

  • Lead a positive, progressive safety culture via, systems, education, encouragement and practical focus
  • Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of project specific safety plans, SWMS and risk assessments
  • Conduct site safety audits, proactive task observations, and participate in incident reporting and investigation processes
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing updates to safety standards, systems, and processes
  • Assist with onboarding activities including staff inductions, fit testing, pre-employment checks and back to work planning
  • Support ISO compliance through involvement in audits, system reviews, and maintaining relevant documentation and records
  • Engage with site and project managers to develop toolbox agendas, deliver training, and contribute to staff development
  • Ensure contractual and project specific safety requirements are met while providing practical, project-focused safety strategies

The Candidate

To be considered for this opportunity you will possess following skills and attributes:

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health & Safety
  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within the construction or electrical industries 
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicated with people at all levels with the ability to develop and maintain internal / external working relationship
  • Confidence to implement and ensure compliance of safety processes across multiple project sites
  • Well organized, conscientious, trustworthy and reliable
