About the role 

The Ramp Safety Coordinator sits within the Aviation Operations team and plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, secure and efficient operation of airside ramp environments at Sydney Airport. As part of one of the largest operational teams at the airport, this role works closely with airlines, ground handlers and internal stakeholders to uphold safety standards and operational compliance across all ramp activities.  

This role is responsible for monitoring ramp operations, conducting compliance and enforcement activities and supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety outcomes. The Ramp Safety Coordinator has a direct impact on day-to-day airside operations, contributing to a worldclass airport experience by ensuring all activities are carried out in line with procedures, regulations and safety expectations.  

In this role, you will have the opportunity to… 

• Monitor ramp activities to ensure the safe, compliant and efficient movement of aircraft, vehicles and pedestrians.  

• Conduct safety and serviceability inspections of ramp areas in line with the Airport Operations Manual and licence requirements.  

• Deliver targeted compliance and enforcement programs that improve safety behaviours and operational outcomes.  

• Liaise with airlines, ground handlers and other airside stakeholders to resolve operational issues collaboratively.  

• Complete accurate reporting on compliance activities, performance trends and noncompliance matters.  

• Support incident and emergency responses, including escorts and coordination with Air Traffic Control when required.  

About you 

• Bring proven experience within a safety focused or operational environment.  

• Demonstrate understanding of safety systems, standards and regulatory requirements.  

• Exhibit confident communication and stakeholder engagement skills in complex, fast paced settings.  

• Show the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail and safety.  

• Apply sound judgement when responding to incidents, compliance matters and operational challenges.  

• Align with Sydney Airport’s values and maintain a strong safety-first mindset.
