QLD Safety Manager

Job Description

Location: Brisbane, QLD (Be based at any of the 6 metro sites)
Salary: $150k + Super + Bonus
Role Highlights: This is a hands-on, senior safety role with real accountability. You will be the dedicated safety leader for Queensland, working closely with site leadership and a highly experienced national safety function.

Role Overview

I’ve partnered with a global cold storage and logistics business that has grown significantly across Australia.

This position is currently vacant. In the interim, responsibilities are being shared across the broader safety team and the GM of Safety, which is not sustainable for the business or the sites in Queensland.
They need an experienced Safety Manager on the ground. Someone who can assess risk, engage regulators, strengthen systems, and provide consistent leadership across multiple warehousing and cold storage facilities.
You will play a key role in moving safety from reactive to proactive, while supporting sites through compliance, audits, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities 

• Lead WHS across all 6 x QLD sites, including warehousing and cold storage operations
• Conduct compliance reviews, site audits, and gap assessments
• Strengthen safety systems, standards, and governance frameworks
• Act as the primary point of contact with WorkSafe and regulators
• Lead incident investigations and oversee corrective actions
• Coach and support site leaders to take accountability for safety
• Maintain oversight of workers compensation and RTW processes (approx. 10% of the role, with strong internal & external support in place)
• Drive a consistent, engaged safety culture across the region

Candidate Profile 

This role suits a senior safety professional who has been in the seat before and understands the realities of complex, multi-site operations.

You are confident engaging regulators, credible on site, and practical in your approach. You know how to balance compliance, systems, and people.

You will bring:

• Senior WHS leadership experience in warehousing, logistics, manufacturing, or food environments
• Strong working knowledge of QLD safety legislation and regulator engagement
• Experience overseeing multi-site operations, including ageing facilities with freezers and cool rooms
• The ability to influence at all levels, from site teams to senior leaders
• A calm, collaborative leadership style that brings people along
