Salary Academic Level B ($115,303 - $136,925) + 17% super
Based at the City campus, but may be required to travel to other University campuses
About the Role
We are seeking a Lecturer to contribute to the teaching and research activities within the Discipline of Cyber Security and Software Systems within their area of expertise. The role involves delivering high-quality teaching across undergraduate, Masters, and Graduate Diploma programs, while maintaining and advancing scholarly, research, and/or professional capabilities. The successful candidate will actively engage with academic, industry, and professional communities to promote the program and build meaningful partnerships. Working collaboratively within a collegial teaching team, the Lecturer will keep colleagues and students informed of emerging developments in cyber security, cloud computing, cyber-physical systems, and software systems, and may also undertake course coordination responsibilities. This position is a backfill for a DECRA Fellow, with opportunities to collaborate on research focused on securing systems and addressing data privacy and security challenges in machine learning.
About You
To be successful for this position, you will have:
Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and post-graduate levels in core areas of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology and Cyber Security, including online delivery, and the ability to produce high quality curriculum or program materials.
Ability to undertake course coordination role.
Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning.
Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs which will contribute to existing Cyber Security and Software Systems Discipline and School research areas evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.
Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates.
Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.
Demonstrated ability to work in team environments, to contribute to the development of positive work culture, and to embrace change to support innovation.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Qualifications
Mandatory: PhD or equivalent in relevant field.
Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children Check and other checks as required by the specific role. Maintaining a valid Working With Children Check is a condition of employment at RMIT.
