We are offering two vacancies to join our APAC team as a Health & Safety Advisor. These roles offer flexible working arrangements and can be based from any of our SLR offices across Australia.
Reporting to the APAC Head of Health and Safety, this role will provide practical, technical, and strategic H&S support across our diverse business units and areas of expertise. It presents an excellent opportunity for someone with strong stakeholder management capabilities and solid technical knowledge to partner with our operational leaders, strengthen our H&S culture as well as support implementation of our Strategic Plan and broader initiatives.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Build strong, trusting, and collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders (and external clients where appropriate)
- Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and emerging risks, including psychosocial hazards
- Act as a trusted subject matter expert on workplace health, safety, and psychosocial legislation across Asia Pacific (with a strong focus on Australia and New Zealand), empowering and supporting our network of H&S representatives across the region.
- Provide clear, practical advice on HSMS expectations and ISO 45001/45003 aligned processes
- Support consistent application of risk assessment methodologies, ensuring correct use of the HIRAC methodology across physical and psychosocial hazards
- Assist in conducting psychosocial and physical incident investigations, applying appropriate methodologies and ensuring sensitive and confidential handling of information
- Contribute to strong governance of our Health and Safety Management System by maintaining key documents and enablers, and assisting with the review of risk documentation—enhanced by support from our AI Workers.
- Monitor H&S performance data, analyse trends (including psychosocial indicators), and support or lead incident investigations
- Participate in internal H&S audits and contribute to continual improvement of our robust HSMS, including ISO 45001 and 45003-aligned practices
- Promote learning, consistency, and continuous improvement across the region
- Leverage digital systems and AI enabled tools to enhance H&S reporting, insights, and efficiency
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

- Typically, 3+ years’ experience as a Health & Safety Advisor or similar
- Minimum Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety
- Internal Auditor certification (desirable)
- Must have experience working in the mining, earth sciences, or environmental sciences sectors, with an ability to translate technical operational risk into practical H&S controls
- Demonstrated experience working with health and safety management systems, ideally aligned to ISO 45001 and ISO 45003
- Strong understanding of psychosocial legislative obligations across Australia and/or New Zealand, and ability to support implementation across the HSMS
- Knowledge of WHS/ OHS legislation, Australian Standards, and Codes of Practice, with an advantage for broader APAC jurisdictional knowledge
- Experience in developing and reviewing H&S procedures, guidelines, SWMS, risk assessments and risk registers.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, including ICAM trained (preferred) or equivalent methodology
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Capability and interest in digital H&S systems, data analytics, and emerging technologies (including AI-enabled tools)
