Position Title: APS5 / APS6 Personnel Security Vetting Officer
Employment Type: Labour hire contract (Approx 12 months with potential to extend)

Hourly Pay Rate: Negotiable dependent on skills and experience
Security Clearance/Requirements: Minimum NV1 security clearance at time of application
ABOUT THE ROLE
A Federal Government Department is seeking experienced Personnel Security Vetting Officers at the APS5 and APS6 levels to support its security clearance and maintenance functions.
The role involves undertaking personnel security vetting activities up to the NV2 level, including complex assessments, quality assurance activities, and the provision of sound advice to support key business outcomes. Successful candidates will work within an established vetting team and contribute to maintaining high standards of integrity, compliance, and timeliness in line with government security frameworks.
Undertake personnel security vetting in accordance with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and relevant standard operating procedures
Utilise case management systems and other internal systems to support vetting activities
Provide sound and well-reasoned advice regarding security clearance outcomes and demonstrate receptiveness to feedback
Assess and manage complex vetting cases and prepare high-quality supporting documentation
Manage a Quality Assurance (QA) caseload, including engagement with external service providers, ensuring alignment with PSPF and internal QA standards
Work effectively to tight deadlines in a high-tempo environment with shifting priorities
Undertake additional administrative and security-related tasks, such as inbox management and assessment of change of circumstance notifications
Work from an office-based location in Canberra
Certificate IV in Government (Personnel Security Vetting) is essential.
Demonstrated experience undertaking personnel security vetting activities
Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Proven capability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a professional approach to liaison
High level of integrity and commitment to APS Values and the APS Code of Conduct
Australian citizenship is required
Minimum NV1 security clearance at time of application.
